Don’t hang your harp on the willow tree

Don’t hang your harp on the willow tree
As they did in the days of old.
Praise me! Praise me!
Worship and adore me.
I have not forsaken you –
I never leave my own.
They may rebel and not listen to me
But I am forever the same.

Don’t hang your harp on the willow tree
For that’s what you are to me.
You are as a willow tree
With your roots going deep into me.
Draw from that well of living water
As from a refreshing stream.
Don’t allow the cares of the world
To clutter and block the flow.

Stay sweet before me –
Sweet and clean.
Dive, as it were
Deep into the stream.
My love for you
Is sweet and clean.
Allow my love to flow over you
In and through your being.
Know that in you
I am doing a new thing
Be ready as it
Comes into being.
